The Order of David the King

An association of men after God's own Heart

"Quaesivit Dominus sibi virum juxta cor suum"

Memento Domine

O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.

How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:

If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:

If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,

Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.

We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.

Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.

Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.

For thy servant David's sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.

The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.

If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them:

Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne. For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.

This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.

Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy. There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.

The Davidic Order

Since the breakdown of the family in modern culture, there has been an ongoing mutual crisis of masculinity and femininity in the world at large. Family structure, values, and the dignity of what it means to be either male or female has been lost in postmodern, post-Christian culture - even among the members of the Catholic Church Herself. Prayer and liturgical life is popularly falsely viewed as a feminine endeavor; male leadership and authority has been abandoned and caricatured as evil or even tyrannical. A false notion of freedom and a misunderstanding of the structure of family life has poisoned every aspect of postmodern culture. As a result, a degenerate generation has been brought up to idealize the antithesis of the family: the individual. Far from trying to go “backwards in time,” the Davidic Order exists to charge headlong into the fray, raising up men to stand in the breach and defend the dignity of the family based on eternal, unchanging principles.

The Davidic Order is an association of men desiring to live a life according to God's own Heart. In the Davidic Order, men are formed by a consistent structure of daily prayer and sacramental life, intellectual, moral, and spiritual formation, and fraternal accountability. Taking King David as our patron, we seek to be men “according to God’s own Heart,” seeking the Sacred Heart of Jesus in every aspect of our lives. Seeing God’s heart - the heart of a Father - revealed through the life of David, specific patterns emerge that shape the life and charism of a Davidic Man. The pillars of the Davidic charism are silence, action, repentance, penance, & good work. Each one ordered towards charity, that is, the love of God and love of neighbor, finding strength in the Most Sacred, pierced Heart of Jesus.
